About VG Energy - The Renewable Technology Specialists

In 2008 the founders of VG Energy, were looking to install a small wind turbine on each of their farms and found that no existing company could offer them the level of expertise and service that would normally be expected when purchasing agricultural equipment. They realised quickly that there was a huge gap in the market for a company selling wind turbines under a model similar to a reputable agricultural machinery dealership, specifically including the important aftersales service.

Today VG has over 50 directly employed staff: planners, environmental consultants, architects, experienced wind turbine engineers, electrical engineers, and project managers along with knowledgeable sales staff. These staff all work under the senior management team which includes the four company Directors. The Directors have a wide range of suitable experience for a company in this market. The two founders have strong farming backgrounds and industry relationships as well as establishing other companies including contracting works on a large wind farm (Whitelee). The third Director has come from the agricultural machinery field specialising in retail and manufacturing management, and the last company Director has come from a wind turbine manufacturing company where he spent 9 years in turbine design, manufacture, and then wind farm development management roles.

After starting the business with micro-sized wind turbines, which are still our bread and butter today, we have expanded our product line-up into larger and larger turbines as well as entering into larger developments for ourselves and our customers. Having a range of turbines from 6kW to 2MW allows us to assist the landowner to develop the most lucrative project they can get within the constraints on their site.

We also offer a range of solar panel systems that can be tailored to suit residential, agricultural or commercial applications.  These solar panels can range from 2kW up to 5MW.

Accreditations

VG Energy is fully accredited by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) for wind turbines, solar photovoltaic and solar thermal technologies. VG Energy also only offer products which are also accredited by the same scheme (where applicable). MCS is designed to evaluate products and installers against robust criteria for microgeneration technologies, providing greater protection for consumers and ensuring that the Government’s money is spent in an effective manner.
