Planning and Grid Connections
VG Energy provides a comprehensive package whereby we apply to your local authority for planning permission to install the turbine on your behalf and will also apply to your DNO (district network operator) for a connection of embedded generation to be carried out.
The VG Energy Planning team are registered members of IEMA. The Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) which is the professional membership body for promoting best practice standards in environmental management, auditing and assessment for all industry sectors.
Planning
The VG Energy Planning and EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) Department have created positive relationships with Local Planning Authorities and Consultees, including SNH (Scottish Natural Heritage), Natural England, English Heritage, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), SEPA (Scottish Environmental Protection Agency), CAA (Civil Aviation Authority), MoD (Ministry of Defence) and HS (Historic Scotland) through effective and continuous consultation.
These positive relationships are extremely beneficial when dealing with new applications on behalf of our clients.
Grid Connection to DNO
We have recently employed a Grid Connection Engineer who can complete a desk based assessment of DNO maps, electrical lines and sub-stations to assess the potential viability for connecting wind turbines.
When a deposit is received for a specific wind turbine we liase with the appropriate DNO and submit a formal application for connection. It normally takes 2-3 months for the DNO to do the necessary checks on the electricity line and provide us with a formal offer for connection.
Once this offer has been accepted we have suitably qualified electricians to do the final connections and G59-2 testing.
