Solar Power

Solar Photovoltaic (PV)

Solar PV uses energy from the sun to create electricity to run appliances and lighting. PV requires only daylight, not direct sunlight to generate electricity and generate power on a cloudy day.

The PV cell consists of two layers of silicon. When light shines on the cell it creates an electric field across the layers causing electricity to flow. The greater the intensity of the light, the greater the flow of electricity.

Types of Installation

Roof Mounted

All solar PV panels can be installed onto your house, shed or office roof through the use of different mounting kits. Due to the varying types of roof in the UK we have a wide range of fixings that can be used to allow us to install our solar panels on all roof types.

Ground Mounted Systems

Ground mounts are available if you have a large area of land that you want to install solar panels on. These systems are linked together and an underground cable track will bring the power back to your consumer unit or directly onto the grid if you chose to export all of the power produced.

Solar Tracker

The efficiency of solar panels can be increased by up to 40% with the use of a solar tracker. It is possible install a single axes tracker which operates at a fixed angle and turns the solar array to face the sun throughout the day. The other option is to install a dual axis tracker which maximises the efficiency as the sensors in the tracker turn the solar panels to the optimum angle to harness as much solar irradiation as possible. The other benefit of the dual axis tracker is that if there is no direct sunlight the tracker will alter the pitch of the array to wherever there is most light. If you install multiple arrays with trackers they will work individually to capture the maximum amount of light which in turn will give you the maximum amount of return from your investment.

Flat Roof

Flat roof systems are available through the use of A-frames for mounting the panels onto to get the optimum angle for the solar panels to work. These types of installations are ideal for both domestic and commercial use.
