The Polaris P17/50i is a reliable wind turbine brought to the UK market from America, by VG-Polaris.

Designed and manufactured to IEC 61400-1 specification with direct drive technology (no gearbox or belts) and using reliable world class components this turbine is unique in the UK market.

The Permanent magnet generators are supplied by Sicme Motori s.r.l – Torino – Italy who have over 40 years experience in the generator industry building generators up to 2500kW. This kind of power generating technology is therefore ideal for wind power generation because its initial operation torque (cut-in speed) is much lower than competing generators.

To control the generator and invert power Polaris turbines have been designed with variable frequency drives supplied by Bosh Rexroth one of the world's leading electronics companies. NO components have been compromised in design quality and build strength of this 50kW wind turbine. This wind turbine has been built for the Agricultural and Industrial market both for providing energy to large commercial farms/premises and efficient power generation for export to grid.

Towers come in 18m-36m sizes with hydraulically operated towers optional. This Polaris turbine is very efficient at low and medium wind speeds, but is also very effective in higher winds. Designed to IEC 61400-1 Specifications the wind turbine world design criteria the Polaris P17/50i comes with industry leading warranty and guaranteed income package and has unrivalled "payback" period and lifetime income.

The Polaris P17/50i generates an income from £25,000 to £65,000 per year with the 25.3p/kW feed-in-tariff and 3.1p minimum electric sale price. The P17/50i turbine has an electric production of 89,000kW/hrs-208,000kW/hrs, (dependant on wind speed) along with a survival wind speed of 59 m/s, (132 mph).
